Ingredients

500 gram ground beef

6 clove garlic

2 shallots

1 ½ tbsp ginger

200 gram red pepper

1 tsp sambal oelek

1 tsp sriracha sauce

1 ½ tbsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp fish sauce

3 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp honey

250 mL beef broth

1 tbsp corn starch

2 cup jasmine rice

400 gram coconut milk

½ tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

125 mL water

3 kafir lime leaves

1 cup Thai basil

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the rice until water runs clear then soak the rice for 15 minutes in water

Step 2

Drain the rice then add 1 can coconut milk, water, sugar and salt and crushed kaffir lime leaves bring to simmer over medium heat .

125 mL water

400 gram coconut milk

1 tbsp sugar

½ tsp salt

3 kafir lime leaves

Step 3

Once simmering stir the rice then reduce to low heat cover with a lid and cook 14 minutes . Once cooked remove the lid and let it sit 10 minutes

Step 4

Use a chopper to finely chop garlic ginger and shallots then sautee in a pan for 2 minutes in vegetable oil

Add beef to the pan and brown the meat

Step 6

add sambal oelek , oyster sauce , fish sauce , soy sauce , sriracha and honey and cook another minute

Step 7

Dissolve cornstarch in water then add it to the beef with beef broth and basil leaves and simmer until thickened

1 cup Thai basil

1 tbsp corn starch

Step 8

Serve the basil beef with the coconut rice and (optional) garnish with cashews red chillies and more basil
