Ingredients

300 gram oyster mushrooms

1 cup flour

½ cup flour

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

½ tsp white pepper

½ tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

¼ tsp Chinese 5 spice

1 tsp fresh thyme

1 cup buttermilk

½ tsp cumin

300 mL vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a flat plate add 1 cup of flour ,salt ,black pepper , white pepper , smoked paprika , cumin , onion powder , garlic powder , chinese 5 spice and dried thyme and whisk to combine

¼ tsp Chinese 5 spice

1 tsp fresh thyme

Step 2

In a deeper plate or bowl add 1/2 cup flour ,salt , pepper and buttermilk and whisk well to combine into a smooth batter

¼ tsp black pepper

1 cup buttermilk

Step 3

Dredge the oyster mushrooms in the flour mix then. tap off the excess flour

Step 4

Cover the mushroom in the batter mixture then tap off any excess batter

Step 5

Put the mushroom back into the flour mixture then coat again and tap off the excess . Repeat with all the mushrooms then set aside for frying

Step 6

Add vegetable oil to a frying pan and Heat on medium high . Drop batter into the pan and if it bubbles and floats the oil is ready for frying

300 mL vegetable oil

Step 7

Fry the mushrooms until golden and crunchy and drain on paper towels

Step 8

Dip into your favourite spicy mayo
